Jackson memorabilia stolen in Vegas, N.J. man says

LAS VEGAS – A New Jersey businessman is alleging that part of his collection of Michael Jackson memorabilia was stolen from a Nevada storage facility and auctioned without his knowledge.

Henry Vaccaro filed a police report July 31 saying his rented storage space was burglarized and valuable Jackson items were missing, North Las Vegas police said Thursday. The auction was staged on July 26, about one month after the pop star died in a rented Beverly Hills mansion.

Vaccaro of Asbury Park, N.J., told investigators he last saw the items in storage at Southern Nevada Movers in North Las Vegas more than two years ago – on May 30, 2007, police Sgt. Tim Bedwell said.

Vaccaro also reported memorabilia unrelated to Jackson was missing. He put the value of the missing items at about $1 million.

Vaccaro told The Associated Press the missing items included lyrics, notebooks and costumes first obtained years ago.

He said he had agreed to give some of the items back to Jackson’s estate, but would not say what the items were.

He discovered the theft on July 19, he said.

“Everything that was sold is stolen merchandise,” the 69-year- old Vaccaro said.

Mario Trabado, owner of Clark County Public Auction, said he had auctioned Jackson items bought legally less than a month earlier from a private collector

You were parted from your possessions for

July 29th, 2010

You were parted from your possessions for a reason. I am sure you have had many new experiences and made many new friends since the day Hurricane Katrina came off the sea and changed your life.

Enough time has now passed that you can look back and see what changes have taken place ? what new opportunities have opened up for you and what new ways you have created for yourself to flow your energies to.

You are born into the world with nothing and you leave the world with nothing; so is it so unusual that you get to have nothing in the middle of your life as well?

A similar thing happened to me in 2001 when I was working as a sheep farmer in the Snowdonia National Park, in Wales, United Kingdom. Very unexpectedly, we found ourselves in the middle of the Foot and Mouth Disease outbreak and could not market our lambs at all for nearly a year.

6 months into the outbreak, we ran out of money and the farm was sold from under us. Everything, auctioned off. We had planned to retire at the farm but the Universe had other ideas for us.

Now when I look back, I can see how blessed I was by this event as we would not have left the farm without this big push from Nature.

I now find myself doing what I want to do; I live in a warmer, more comfortable house and have more free time to enjoy myself and follow my own heart’s desire.

What I would suggest to you is to look deeply into your heart and find that which brings you Joy.

Although phentermine pills are

July 29th, 2010

Although phentermine pills are oral suppressants that help in reducing weight, they must be taken only as part of a normal diet plan and not alone. Phentermine, when taken by itself for weight reduction, might cause severe side effects and complications and so the usage must be with caution only.

Even when phentermine pills are taken along with a diet plan, there are side effects, such as dry mouth, insomnia, irritability, stomach upset or constipation until the body adjusts to the medication. These might disappear in time but it’s good practice to inform the physician if they persist for long.

Diet, smoking, sleeping and alcohol habits need to be changed for the medicine to take effect as well as preventing side effects which could lead to severe complications.

Before taking phentermine pills as part of diet consult your physician to discuss medical history as well as details and history of existing diseases and medications-even cold medicine.

Phentermine is not recommended for children or pregnant women. Consulting a physician would eliminate any doubt regarding the use of Phentermine. There can be severe side effects such as chest pain, nervousness, pounding heart, difficulty urinating, mood changes, breathing difficulties or swelling are experienced during use of Phentermine, consult a physician immediately as this might indicate that the body is unable to adjust to the medication.

The mood changes associated with phentermine are very similar to those associated with amphetemines, commonly known as “”speed”" or “”uppers”".

I may have to deal with

July 29th, 2010

I may have to deal with people online and on the phone.I give my name, address, phone number, and??my credit card number! EGAD, what am I doing?

Then my common sense and education about matters such as these kicks in and I rationalize that these companies would not be in business if they couldn?t keep their customers happy. But,accidents happen.

So you see my dilemma. I know computer security and Spyware, and the vulnerabilities and strengths when dealing online. Its just a little new to me to trust, when I know the ramifications to me personally if my Identity were to be used for ill-gotten gain.

I know after all these years of being a, OK I admit it, a slightly paranoid online user, that I need to make myself a little vunerable so I can better succeed in my online business.

Ive been where the people who contact me asking for help are; a place in their minds of anger, frustration and helplessness.

But then as I said earlier, common sense and education about Spyware wins over and I take a deep breath and go on.

Foundation, BCBSM raise funds for colitis, Crohn’s disease

0 Comments | Arab American News, The, Jul 3-Jul 9, 2010 | by Meyer, Nick

DETROIT – Scores of supporters gathered at the Detroit Riverfront starting at Rivard Park on Saturday, June 26 for the “Take Steps: Be Heard for Crohn’s and Colitis” walk with the goal of raising funds and awareness for the diseases.

Crohn’s disease is an inflammatory disease of the intestines and/or the mouth and anus with no current cure and colitis is a similar inflammatory disease of the colon. Researchers are currently searching for a cure for both.

The event was held by the 50,000 member Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation of America (CCFA) with support from Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan (BCBSM). A BCBSM representative said the insurance company has reached out to the Middle Eastern community’s leaders for insight and guidance about the communities they serve and making tangible efforts to help educate and connect with the community in ways that move them toward better health – being at the walk was one example.

With an estimated 1 in 200 people in the United States suffering from digestive diseases, the need for more support in the fight against diseases like Crohn’s and colitis is pronounced.

On Saturday, the Yahya family of Dearborn stepped up to answer the call in support of a family member who came down with a digestive disease, which seems to be a problem among Arab Americans, according to the family.

“From what we’ve seen, these diseases are prevalent in the Middle Eastern community,” said Manal Yahya, whose family is of Palestinian descent.

“We’ve met lots of friends and know other people with Crohn’s or colitis. They are autoimmune diseases that aren’t easy to diagnose and require a lot of trial-and-errar with medications to get the symptoms under control.”

Another family member walking in support, Ahmad Yahya, talked about the lack of discussion about the disease.

“It’s absolutely not well known especially in Michigan but by fundraising we can pay for more research and hopefully find a cure.”

The Yahya’s were awarded the Detroit River Walk Diversity Award for their outstanding leadership and outreach and were cocaptains of “Team Glory,” one of 238 that supported the event. Team Glory, recognized as a top fundraising team, included about 35 people, with their fundraising efforts spearheaded by Maha Mustafa, Manal Yahya’s sister. Mustafa organized a successful bowling event and struck deals with Olga’s Restaurant in Dearborn Heights and Leo’s Coney Island in Dearborn to donate portions of sales on special dates to help raise funds.

The event also featured pre- walk speakers who talked about their families’ struggles with the diseases. Katie Coleman, whose daughter Emme is suffering with Crohn’s, spoke about the importance of supporting the foundation for research and education.

She also talked about finding support through the foundation.

“Emme has had the disease for about five years now and at first we felt so alone,” she said. “It was rough, she was missing a lot of school and having a lot of tests done. But through the CCFA we found a doctor and found people who understood what we were going through.”

Coleman and the Yahya family were able to witness the power of people coming together for a good cause on the day as the event raised about $100,000 according to Coleman as of the beginning of the walk.

The Arab and Chaldean communities factor into BCBSM’s efforts in general. “A growing and vibrant part of the Michigan population and economy – and like other ethnicities and backgrounds they have specific needs including those related to health care

When you come home from work, all

July 29th, 2010

When you come home from work, all you need to do is throw the thawed dish in the oven for about 35-45 minutes and dinner is served without much effort.

Eating healthy on a regular basis does take planning and discipline. At first, it may seem rigorous because you are learning how to prepare meals. Grocery shopping may also feel like a chore. But, within a couple of weeks, it will become a habit and second nature. You will feel more in control knowing exactly what ingredients are being used. Therefore, you do not have to worry about hidden fats or too much salt, that are likely present in most restaurant foods.

Be a good role model for your family. You will be serving them by providing both healthy meals and educating them about leading a healthy lifestyle. This is huge because you are setting the example for your kids and passing it on to their kids, and down the line.

Many of the most respected

July 29th, 2010

Many of the most respected classical composers came from Germany. There is a lot to do in Germany, from exploring towns with a centuries-old history to seeing the wonders of modern engineering technology. Those who study in Germany will find that this gives an inside view of many aspects of German culture.

Where Should I Learn German?

Although there are plenty of German classes available in most countries, a good option is to study in Germany at a German language school. This means that students will learn by immersion, hearing German spoken both inside and outside the classroom. This is a good way to learn German fast and correctly. There are German language schools around the country. One option is to study in Berlin. Not only does Berlin have many universities and educational institutions, but it also has a rich cultural history and many sights to see. This makes study in Berlin a good option for learning German.

Dealers enjoy rebound in sales of new vehicles

The Virginian-Pilot

A strong acceleration in auto sales this year – in high double digits for many – has given Hampton Roads car dealers reason to believe that economic recovery is back in drive.

Local consumers drove away with 21,189 new vehicles in the first six months of this year, 9 percent more than in the same period in 2009, according to data from Auto-Count, a unit of the credit reporting bureau Experian. A dozen dealers saw new-car sales gains of more than 50 percent.

Those selling Ford, Hyundai and luxury brands including Mercedes, Infiniti and Audi experienced the biggest jumps. Even Toyota, beleaguered by safety recalls and quality concerns early in the year, sold 454 more cars and trucks between January and June than in the first six months of 2009, a 16 percent gain.

“Things are improving, and people are starting to come out and look again,” said Nathan Drory, president of the Charles Barker dealerships in Virginia Beach and Newport News.

Charles Barker’s sales soared 73 percent for its Infiniti dealership, 29 percent for Lexus in Virginia Beach and 26 percent for Toyota, the AutoCount data showed.

The AutoCount information comes from Department of Motor Vehicles registrations and usually lags about a month behind actual dealership sales. It showed the biggest jump at Cavalier Ford, with a nearly 114 percent increase in sales at its dealership that moved from Portsmouth to the Chesapeake Square area a year ago.

Steve Klimkiewicz, vice president of Cavalier Auto Group, attributed Ford’s sales gains partly to consumers’ desire to support the only major U.S. auto maker that didn’t receive federal funding to stay afloat.

“The brand is obviously hot right now,” Klimkiewicz said. “There’s a strong positive perception of the company from not taking money” from taxpayers.

At least once a week, a Beach Ford customer praises the manufacturer for declining the government bailout, said Tom Barton III, the Virginia Beach dealership’s president. Beach Ford’s sales grew 58 percent in the first half of 2010, and the Barton family’s Beach Ford Lincoln Mercury dealership in Suffolk tallied a whopping 72 percent increase, the Auto-Count data show .

“It’s good to be a Ford dealer right now,” Barton said.

Pent-up demand from consumers who held onto older cars longer also helped boost business, he said
